Skate Report 28 Nov 2001 The rain held off for long enough for us to get a great skate in tonight.

There was a good crowd turned up tonight ready for a quick stride (don't forget though, Virgin Night is on the first Wed of the Month). David lived up to his alias of go-go-gadget tonight by bringing along the GPS.. With the GPS in his pocket you could be sure He had a bit of a distance and speed run in mind but it was unable to communicate with the satellite. Never mind, next time.

It was good to see the return of a few new faces from the BIGGEST City Skate - EVER ! Don't forget next week is Virgin Night.

After Bill & I turned up a little late (sorry) David bought the crew around to the second meeting place (not) and was champing at the bit ready to go.

We headed up College St and then up Oxford St where we noticed that the numbers had stretched a little. With a word to keep up we took off down Bourke St (past Foveaux) for a long stretch to Green Square. Around a few back streets of Alexandria seemed a bit hard for some and when we turned into Sydney Park we lost a couple of skaters who weren't watching.

There was a bit of a regroup at the top of the hill at Sydney Park and people tried their skills at grass riding or the really sketchy, skinny winding path over a little brick bridge. A good thing about the bridge was if you couldn't navigate your way over it there was a grass ride past it. This was a bit tricky as by then you were going pretty quick. Other people tried all sorts of ways around the bridge but I think the most spectacular was Sean's hands and knees up to the brick wall then a little forward roll over it onto the grass, with hardly a scratch (bad luck about the pants). Well done Sean it's not often we see you down like that.

After a little rest here we took off up King Street through Newtown to Missenden Rd which we followed through RPA hospital, across Parramatta Rd to Pyrmont Bridge Rd ready for the fast run down under the Railway Bridge to Wentworth Park. We hardly stopped form here as the time was getting on and some people were feeling the effects of sleepless nights.

A few different shortcuts took different groups up to the top of Harris St in all manner of ways and everyone was standing around all over the place waiting for someone to start. So it was the one who likes to go the quickest who showed us how to do it this time so we stood back from the footpath waiting for some big air and he just flew straight past us without any jump. No second invitation was needed and nearly everyone else took off in a big huddle.

Now I can't go past the steps without another run down this hill since I was shown the shortcut so up the steps for one more quick run before a well earned drink. Did I say drink ? Because when I caught up to everyone at the top of the escalators I was told it was too late for a drink we had to go. So there I was, torn between my lift home and a farewell (and thirst quenching) drink with my fellow skaters. Oh well the lift won out.

Ben & I couldn't resist a quick stair ride and as the escalators were working had 2 or 3 before we tried to catch up with the others. Skating so close to the Hilton meant another detour for the smoothest run in Sydney and then back to the car for a severe reprimand.

What a good night. Thanks David for leading us it would have been good to have a few gadget stats so lets hope next time.
Sorry My camera battery ran out but we got a couple of photos.

Dont forget next week is Virgin Night (but wont be postponed if it rains).

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
