I thought I was quite a reasonable skater but on Wednesday night (19/1/01...... I thought I was quite a reasonable skater but on Wednesday night (19/1/01) I was back to a very humble beginner level. Meeting up at the Gates, there would have been about 15 people. Not a bad turn out, I was told, considering it could rain at any moment, Everyone was very friendly. You might not agree, but the streets are a bit different to a Park. So as a result I had an awkward start down Macquarie St. I was desperately pushing on the (squeaking) brake and sounding like a Cyclist out of control. Thankfully, Ben stayed behind and helped me get through this with some quick skating tips as we went.

We passed through a busy and exciting Sydney Festival Parade of the Rainbow Serpent, and up to the Harbour Bridge Steps. Iíve Only been across the Bridge by car so this was fantastic.

Unfortunately, without the Guru leaders (someone elseís words) the main bunch got separated into some smaller groups. We were left behind, but Ben knew the way. I only went half way across the Bridge and then decided to turn back. I then got lost , because I have no sense of direction (but didnít get mugged), and ended up in the backyard of the ANA Hotel. Turning back, I fortunately came across Tony and Peter who gave me directions back to my car. I was then faced with a very steep hill (Bridge Street, I think) and had to, after a struggle, and to the amusement of onlookers, go barefoot.

Then the rain started bucketing down at about 10:30pm and I reluctantly caught a taxi (I wasnít going to mention that part, but it was only 5 bucks). It was quite an adventure.

Once in the Car and on the way home there was some deep flooding on the roads to get through but that didnít seem so difficult after the Skate. I look forward to a slightly easier and drier "Virgin" skate until I get the hang of it. See yah next adventure guys!

PS: Any parking tips? ( I parked near the State Library in Hospital Rd) Any better places?

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
