Skate Report Wed 26 October 2005

Tonight was supposed to be Mission Skate but with the threat of imminent rain some skaters thought the skate wouldnít be on and turned around and drove back home. Well they couldnít have been more wrong.

Because of the rain we stayed close to the City and hit the usual hills & Wynyard. From here we went through the Rocks & up to Observatory Hill where we had a very fast run down to the bottom of the ski hill. A couple more times down here & we decided to cut across to the roughest road in the world for a couple more runs down here.

It was just after this when back at the top we were trying to think of somewhere different to skate when someone mentioned the path under the bridge down to the Park Hyatt. As I came around the bottom corner the only place to go was down a set of stairs, over the grass or hold a very tight turn off camber back up the hill. With visions of watching Ben tumble over the grass a few weeks back I held on and just made it around the corner and was turning back to warn everyone when Tony came flying down in a shower of sparks. Luckily his fall was saved by his water bottle & the gutter. Unluckily his head wasnít saved by his helmet because he didnít have one on.

He winded himself & cracked his head and mixed in with the water from his water bottle things looked much more serious than they were. When the ambulance came they were concerned for his neck but kept asking him questions that required a nod or shake of his head.

There was this fabulous couple who were sitting in the dark taking in the view when their first aid skills were such a help to us as our usual first aid carrier wasnít with us. Thanks heaps guys without your help we would have been messes. Hope to Catch You on a skate soon.

When the ambulance left we made our way gingerly back to the cars.
Wow what a mission!

Tony is ok now and just got 4 stitches (and a new helmet).

Once again a helmet might have saved a bit of claret on the pavement and Tony was lucky the damage wasnít any worse. I really think it is a good idea for everyone to wear a helmet because when you fall you donít have any control as to how you fall (thatís why you fell!). I urge everyone who comes for a skate with us to consider you have a long life ahead of you and donít need anyone to wipe your bum earlier than will happen.

Thanks to everyone for a great skate.

There are 6 Photos for this skate. All are linked to this report and in the images section

Remember I promise to put up some photos for anyone who writes a skate report.

Keep Skating

Web site Design and Data based Features by

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
