Skate Report Wed 22 Oct 2003

It was pouring as we left Bills house & the clouds looked low all over Sydney so we stopped on the Wakehurst Parkway and rang a few people to find out what the weather was doing in Sydney & were told it was dry. So we quickly hotfooted it into the City to find a group of hardened skaters waiting.

No only were there a good group of skaters but there to surprise us all was the return of our beloved leader, David.

Taking control after everyone waited while I had my wheels rotated & a new brake put on (I know I said BEFORE the skate but I really didn't expect to get any skating done tonight) David took us down to Martin Place and we kept skating straight through here. After a quick Photo opportunity he led us through some twisting back lanes down to Circular Quay.

We stopped to chat with a group of bikers who seem to have taken the idea of City Skate to another plane. From here it was across to The Rocks via some more back lanes and then up some steps and more back lanes until we came out at the Harbour Bridge and went through the tunnel to Observatory Hill.

After a quick regroup we had a quick run down the ski hill and back up the stairs for another run. Then back up the stairs and along Kent St for a run to the lights. Now remember take off on the Orange and skate like crazy to get the Green at the bottom.

At the bottom of the hill we stood around for a while trying to figure which way to go from here. Bill thought it would be good to go over one of the freeway Overpasses so we took off up Sussex St to find the way. We ended up going over a pedestrian overpass and ended up at Darling Harbour.

We skated around past the Motor Show and had a quick look at the cars parked outside & the 4 Wheel Drive track and then continued around the waters edge to the Maritime Museum and up to Pyrmont Bridge. It was about here the whole night fell apart. People were looking at their watches and mumbling about how late it was while others crossed the road for a drink stop & some took off for a run down the Casino Hill while the rest stood around debating whether to stop for a quick drink or head home.

Finally home was the call but as we skated up the hill to the QVB Will called for a quick run through Wynyard. I don't think RAIN thought this was a particularly good idea because as he was skating up to the escalator he slipped on the shiny floor and put his shoulder out. He also was able to put it back in while he was on the ground but I think it might be sore for a while. Hope you get better soon Rain.

While we waited for Rain a few of the fast ones had another run and then we finally headed for the cars & home.

For a night that started out pouring with rain we ended up having a great skate and not a wet piece of road in sight. It was also great to have David back in the drivers seat and he led a pretty fun skate tonight too. Thanks Dave.

Only 1 more Skate before The BIGGEST City Skate - EVER! so I hope you have all your friends fired up ready for a great City Skate

Hope to see you all next week.

Keep skating.

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
