Skate Report Wed 24 Sep 2003

A warm, balmy and windy September night and we gathered at the alternate meeting spot.
There was discussion on where to go – the airport had vocal supporters but it was to be hills and lots of them, so Balmain it was.
With Sean in the lead it was a bit of a late start and off we went to Anzac Bridge. After the usual warnings at the middle before a cautious run around the obstacles at the western end, then a fast run down to Victoria Rd. At Sean’s suggestion a run to the other side by the overpass, and the back streets of Rozelle up the hill to Balmain Rd, much better surfaces than the Victoria Rd pavement we usually negotiate.
All but a few of us raced down the Oxford St hill to Moodie St then across Victoria Rd to Balmain, to do the hills around the apartments opposite Birkenhead Point. Johnny caught up with us and raised the volume of the skate…………..! We had a few onlookers wondering what we were up to and interested in joining in, Phil was seen handing out leaflets about our 13th anniversary skate in November, and Johnny tried his hardest to scare the women off.
Then it was off around the paths in the apartment complex, back to Terry St and a flattish, dark skate, with a heavy fall by Steve, shaken but OK we were off again. Regrouped at Cameron St for more downhills around Birchgrove. Louisa Rd took us down to the waterfront, around a winding path at Mort Bay then up yet another hill to Darling St, where Bill was seen disappearing into the Gelatissimo ice cream bar, and with icecream in hand he followed us as we skated on for more hills.
A quick run down the Palmer St next to Woollies, more downhill charges before finding White Bay container terminal in front of us and a pause to regroup. Johnny tried for a loud tune ??………save it for the shower Johnny please!
Then we headed back to the Anzac Bridge, and the usual route for a fast run to Harris St hill, and with the pub in mind, most of us kept going – but Bill and Phil did another run.
A great skate Sean.

Get Ready for the
3rd Annual
Biggest City Skate EVER !

Wednesday 5 Nov 2003 is the date to put into your diaries and get your friends revved up ready to go. Don't forget to make sure all your gear is working before the night.

Lets see if we can get a bigger turn out than last year (151 skaters). Maybe we can get over 200 this year. It should be a cinch if we can get 75 for a normal Virgin Skate.

To all of you who used to come into the City regularly for a City Skate now is the time to check your gear and come along to say hello to your skating mates. We would really love to see you there.

As with all Virgin Nights if it rains the Biggest City Skate - EVER! will be postponed until the next fine Wed.

Friday Night Sydney Skate
Don't forget Friday Nights "Friday Night Sydney Skate" it is held every Friday Night.
Meet at Circular Quay near the Manly Ferry exit. Meet at 8:00pm and skate until 10:00pm.

This skate is a social skate and entry level to the usual Sydney Bladers Virgin Skate so if you are unsure how well you can skate, or stop, this will be the skate to go & p

Web site Design and Data based Features by IT3.com.au

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
