International Airport Run/ Blade! Skate for the 18th June 2003 & the Thursday night slalom at Long Reef 19/6/03! Well everyone was on time this evening and after some quick announcements such as slalom gates at Long reef Thursday night which in hindsite was an event not to be missed but was missed by many!!! and Bill having to give a private lesson this particular evening, we were off on a long, smooth and relatively quick skate over a 2.5 hour period.
It was great mate, getting a bit late but everyone had already ate so we hit the slate. The bate being the airport and I gotta tell ya mate I dashed well hate to miss as it would not be just fate to let this one abate but just stupid Shite (with an Irish accent it really sounds like shate!)

Well I'm not Irish as you might all think but the feeling this night was a good one. We skated long and we skated hard and the thought was we were heading off to the domestic airport but at the last minute 'David the ting' Ting lead us on a narrow path out to the international airport where there was absolutely no real air security, surprising for this day and age, and we just skated right on past and out somewhere where I have never even driven but luckily David knew and we like humble sheep followed.
Graham and Helen did a wonderful job and the fittest skater this night was 'Mark the Profaca' He gets the award for doing everything twice if not three times!!!

Some of us made it to the ski hill where a very enjoyable hill was skied and then a dark ale at the Cargo bar was consumed.

the next evening.......
SKATE TO SKI

Well out of the dusk a few people came to get the slalom course set up. This is no easy feat as hundreds of sandbags had to be fill to be placed on the gates' metal stand bases that allow the true skaters to ski to come out of the woodwork!

Once the course was set up the competitivness came oozing out as everyone set themselves against each other with some phenominal blistereing speeds reached with good ol Bill the king of the mountain. No one could match his Canadian zest! Mind you we all tried with many going to ground but protected by copious amounts of protection!

Best improver overall on the night was 'Mark the Profaca' as it was his first time on the hard tarmac slalom and in the end was matching it with the GREATS such as Phil Ting and The man next door to Bills' shop Swiss Sensation ................ (Maurizio)

So we will leave it there but next time get your ass out to Long reef for the Long Reef Slalom!

Johnny

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
