Skate Report Wed 20 November 2002 It was another night that the threatening rain kept numbers down. There were only 14 turned up for what ended up being a good fun skate.

With the clouds getting lower & lower Chris suggested we get a few hills in before they got wet so we pushed straight up College Street to the start of Oxford Street. From here we weaved around the back of the Police Centre and up to Bourke St. It was a nice quick run down Bourke St and so much so Ivan and a couple of others kept going straight past Foveaux St which was our destination. We had a pretty quick run down here and a couple of the quicker and fitter of the group took off back uphill for another run. After we all regrouped we headed off to the Central Tunnel where our little stair ride was thwarted by workmen blocking off half of the steps.

As usual some people skated straight through the tunnel while others (such as myself) took time to play on the steps, escalator and ramp before we jumped the yellow dots at the end. It was here that Ben pointed out a set of escalators that gave you a double ride if you turned hard from the top one into the lower one. Bradley was the first to try this and he enthused Ben to try a double with him.

I must have put Ben off by trying to video them both coming down in tandem. As Ben & Bradley came to the turn onto the second escalator Ben ran wide nearly into me and missed his run as Bradley took to the last set with gusto. Well done guys.

From here we skated to the Darling Harbour Car Park and had one quick run through here the skated around Darling Harbour to Pyrmont Bridge. We crossed the bridge and then skated down to the Casino and into the Bus tunnel for my alternate run to the Casino Hill.

It was here that the rain started to get a bit heavy and by the time we got to the beginning of the Casino run the road was getting pretty wet. It was a bit scary trying to keep a bit of speed around the corner while trying not to slide out and by the time we got back to Pyrmont Bridge the paving leading onto the bridge was nearly impassable as it was so slippery. At the other end of the Bridge I had to say my farewells as Will was keen to get back to the dry of the car so our night came to an early end.

It was a fun night on a night that looked as if we wouldn't get a skate in at all due to the weather. Hope to see you all next week.

Keep skating

Web site Design and Data based Features by IT3.com.au

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

The web designer of this site (me) is not responsible if you do something stupid because of this web site, if you do I will plead insanity, I have many people on the city skate that will hold proof to this in court if need be. You read this information at your own risk, if you do something stupid then you are an idiot and don't come crying to me about it. If you take this disclaimer too seriously or think its stupid then you have no scene of humor and are probably a very boring person.
