Wednesday Night Skate:
City Skate is one of the most popular Roller Blading Events in Sydney.
There is no organizing body and it has become a weekly tradition where bladers meet in the city and skate to various places as a group.
There are usually between 6 and 60 bladers who join the skate. From recreational, freestyle, speed skaters to street skaters, there is a good mix of great people.
The different types of skates we have are:
First Wed of the month is Virgin Skate. This is not a beginners skate but is for those who can skate and would like to join us on a City Skate. It is a more sedate skate along flatter terrain. (If you are not confident about your skating ability consider getting lessons from a certified instructor.)
Each Wed Skate gets progressively harder until the last Wed of the Month which is Mission Skate where we skate to places often not been to before and look for bigger & steeper hills (if you are not sure you can keep up for these make sure you have your bus fare in your pocket).
We may travel up to 15 km however and sometimes top it off with a drink at a pub. Everyone is welcome to join us and we will make you welcome. We strongly suggest you wear protective gear including a helmet and that you are a confident skater able to stop on hills. Also, bring a smile........it is all about fun.
WHERE IS IT?
City Skate meets every Wednesday (weather permitting) at:
The steps of the Land Titles Office (The intersection of Art Gallery Rd. St Mary's Rd. and Prince Albert Rd. opposite Hyde Park)
We meet at about 8.45pm or so and leave at around 9.00pm.
The skate usually lasts about 2.5 hours.
Friday Night Sydney Skate:
Friday Night Skate caters for all standards of Skaters and is a little flatter & more casual skate than the Wednesday Night Skate.
Meet at 8:30pm at Circular Quay in front of the Manly Ferry Wharf. This is the skate to hone your skills for the Wednesday Night Skate.
